Minister States Ministry of Defence Investigating Security Risk from Vehicles from China, as Personnel Advised to Avoid Secret Talk in Vehicles.

An defense minister has revealed that the MoD is actively investigating the potential security risks posed by Chinese vehicles, and personnel have been advised to refrain from talking about classified matters in all cars.

Security Guidance for Defence Personnel

In a recently aired interview on a radio station, Luke Pollard addressed reports that Ministry of Defence officials have been instructed not to discuss secret information while riding in Chinese cars.

The minister stated that the MoD is “investigating” cars from China within its vehicle pools, but noted that safety is a issue in all contemporary vehicles.

Our department has a fleet of thousands of cars in the MoD and Chinese ones represent a tiny fraction.
But regardless of if you’re traveling in a Chinese car or a non-Chinese car, our instruction to our people is to avoid connecting Ministry of Defence technology into their vehicle, to avoid having conversations at a secret classification in any kind of car, because of the increasing threats of eavesdropping that exist in every single automobile, to restrict those secret talks in protected areas. This is a wise and reasonable thing for everyone concerned about safety.

After it was suggested that it would be prudent for the MoD to stop using every Chinese vehicles, the minister replied: That is exactly what we’re investigating at the moment.”

Wider Defence Background

This revelation follows reports from Norway and Denmark have alerted the United Kingdom to the presence of multi-purpose shutdown mechanisms in Chinese buses, which could enable China to disable buses and bring chaos to transport systems.

Additionally, a Russian spy ship has been shining laser beams at RAF pilots, described as a “highly dangerous” act by government representatives.

The wider defence situation underscores the significance of robust protocols and caution in every aspects of official operations, from vehicle use to communication practices.
